This is the website of the Books on the Broad reading group which meets in the famous Blackwell bookshop on Broad Street, Oxford, on the first Monday of each month. We just talk (and write) about books.
Each month we choose a book (or maybe two) and then meet for an informal discussion. We keep a written record of our meetings in the form of a Newsletter which contains critical reviews from group members and literary news of the moment.
The Books on the Broad Reading Group won the 2007 Penguin-Orange Broadband Reading Group Prize.
Use the navigation links at the top of this page to discover what we are reading now, what we have read and what we plan to read.
For the list of authors that we have read follow the Newsletter link.
In February, 2010, we are reading "An Instance of the Finger Post" by Iain Pears
